St. Frederick High School has been authorized as an IB World School for the MYP since October of 2023. IB World Schools share a common philosophy--a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education--that we believe is important for our students. The MYP at St. Frederick High School is for grades 7-10, culminating in the personal project, which allows students to explore an area of interest and expertise and to demonstrate their knowledge to the school community.
“The MYP aims to develop active learners and internationally minded young people who can empathize with others and pursue lives of purpose and meaning. The programme empowers students to inquire into a wide range of issues and ideas of significance locally, nationally and globally. The result is young people who are creative, critical and reflective thinkers.”
IB MYP Policies are designed to advise students, parents, and faculty of IB Programme Standards and Practices, ensuring that all students have access to the highest quality education available:
Each month, St. Frederick students are selected as the "Students of the Month" based on one of the IB Learner Profile traits. "The International Baccalaureate® (IB) learner profile describes a broad range of human capacities and responsibilities that go beyond academic success." Together, they represent the ideal St. Frederick student:
All students in grades 7-10 participate in the program, with each year building on the previous. Students take courses from eight subject groups: English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Art, PE, Spanish, and Design.
Courses conform both to MYP guidelines and the requirements set forth by the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE). For a full description of St. Frederick High School's course catalog and course listings, please see our Curriculum Guide.
